The Role:
The Department of Sociology at Central Washington University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning September 16, 2027. We seek a teacher-scholar specializing in Native Peoples and Nations, with expertise in Native and Indigenous sociology and a commitment to undergraduate education. Preference will be given to candidates whose work focuses on Native communities in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. Responsibilities include teaching sociology courses, maintaining an active research program, advising and mentoring students, supervising internships, and contributing service to the department, university, and community. Opportunities may also exist for interdisciplinary teaching and collaboration with programs such as American Indian Studies and Cultural & Environmental Resource Management. Annual Salary: $65,136 - $68,000, based on a full-time nine-month appointment.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
Appointment: Full-Time, Tenure-Track, 9 Month Appointment. Additional Summer teaching may be available.
