The Department of Sociology at Vanderbilt University invites applications for a tenured Associate or Full
Professor in Race/Ethnicity and Social Disparities with a focus on Health, the Environment, and/or
Immigration. We seek candidates with demonstrated scholarly achievement in their study of
medical/health sociology and/or environmental sociology and/or the sociology of immigration through
the lens of race and ethnicity, and grant-active research portfolios emphasizing quantitative methods.
The position begins with the fall semester 2025. The university is home to strong networks of
environmental, health/medical, immigration, and race/ethnicity researchers, with collaborative
opportunities through Vanderbilt’s Centers for Latin American, Caribbean, and Latinx Studies, Research
on Inequality and Health, and Energy, Climate, and Environment; Programs in African American and
Diaspora Studies, Asian Studies, and Climate and Environmental Studies, and the Department of
Medicine, Health, and Society.
